Beauty
What is beauty? There is the saying ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’. What does that mean? Can anyone see beauty the same way as the beholder?
As a photographer, there are things I want my audience to see the way I do. However, they do not always see it the same way. I find this very interesting and gets me to asking them questions about what they see and way. When I listen to their explanation, I am usually able to understand how they see the photograph.
Also, as a photographer, I enjoy looking at other photographers’ and artists’ work. I find this an opportunity to possibly learn a new technique, get a better understanding of a technique, learn about equipment, or a chance to broaden my horizons.
I learned a valuable lesson from my son who likes to photograph as well. He took a photograph of a crow in the Grand Canyon. When I first saw the photo, I was like, why. After talking with him about it, I learned some valuable information about the crow. I also started looking at the photograph from a critique perspective and found that it is a beautiful photograph.
Beauty is not just how we perceive things, but also our willingness to listen to how someone else sees things. This will help grow as an individual through this little act of compassion.
How do you look at beauty? How do you treat someone else’s view of beauty
